Less than 3% of the water on earth is fresh and, of this supply,  only 1/3 is reasonably accessible.  A mere 1/100th of that available water supply is drinkable without intervention.   To highlight this growing challenge, over 6 billion humans compete today for the same amount of water resources that were available when man first walked on Earth. Currently, over 1 billion people around the world routinely drink unhealthy water due to water pollution ,largely a result of wastewater that in some areas of the developing world goes untreated into local water sources. Poor water quality and bad sanitation are deadly; some 5 million deaths a year are caused by polluted drinking water.

The demand for environmental technologies that protect and preserve water resources is increasing at a rapid pace.  Only recently has the determination to address this dire situation and halt the damage been acknowledged. Governments around the world are prepared to enact new policies and are pledging to invest in new technologies to reverse or mitigate the damage to their natural resources. Increasingly, emphasis is being placed on technologies to aid in the detection of pathogens and toxins as well as remediation products and services . Water Industry Solutions believes we are in the midst of an environmental tipping point, as private and public sectors will be forced to increase their investment in technology to maintain universal access to water for commercial and individual consumption.

Commercial entities with the right experience and technology will be well placed to take advantage of this shifting focus. Water Industry Solutions partners with emerging and established water technology, service and consulting firms to locate strategic investment and development opportunities, and forge new relationships and synergies between commercial interests to capitalize on the growing Global Water Economy.
